The award-winning, Stripe Hog Waterblasting System is the most comprehensive, complete and conveniently operated waterblasting system in the world. It is the first choice of contractors around the world for the removal of road markings by waterblasting. No other manufacturer of captive waterblasting equipment for road marking removal has achieved the global success of the Stripe Hog. The advantages that are distinctly unique to the Stripe Hog are:
Developed by a Contractor for Contactors: The Stripe Hog Waterblasting System was developed by the service division of PCS, Inc. PCS still serves as the holding company for Waterblasting.com, a full-service, UHP surface preparation and blasting company, and Waterblasting Technologies the sole manufacturer of the Stripe Hog. Over a period eight years, on pavement marking and rubber removal contracts is 30+ states, the was developed and perfected. After having achieved remarkable success, it was introduced to both the highway and airport industries in 2005. Since that time, the Stripe Hog has been sold in 20 countries on 4 continents and is the #1 choice for both contractors and airports. Today, Waterblasting.com still operates several Stripe Hog units throughout the US. This continuing service business provides a real-time laboratory for the Stripe Hog as we continually strive to build the very best captive waterblasting system in the world. Not only do we build the Stripe Hog, we use the Stripe Hog nearly everyday. It truly is “Built by a contractor, for contractors!”
One Chassis, One Engine: As a contractor, we quickly became familiar with the frustration of multiple trucks and trailers for the work of road marking and runway rubber removal. Multiple pieces of equipment meant more labor and higher operational and maintenance costs. The first models of the Stripe Hog were the first in the North America to offer a complete waterblasting system on a single truck chassis. The ideal was immediately award the prestigious, 1st Place in the Innovation of the Year awards by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). It was a industry changing development and one that our competitors are still trying to achieve, hoping still for a similar measure of success.
The second major milestone in the development of the Stripe Hog was the elimination of all auxiliary engines. While the Stripe Hog had already moved far ahead of any relevant competitor, this achievement extending the margin of superiority. On the jobsite, you simply cannot find a competitive system that will start-up, operate, and shut down as quickly and as easily as the Stripe Hog. The advent of a single engine likewise reduces the operational and maintenance cost of the Stripe Hog.
Ultra High-Pressure Pump: It all begins with the 40,000 psi, ultra high-pressure water pump. The UHP pump selected for the Stripe Hog offers an outstanding combination of dependability and ease of maintenance. The replacement of packings, valves, and plungers can all be accomplished without the complicated, time consuming use of a torque wrench. If necessary, the pump can be easily and quickly serviced on the jobsite.
Blasting Heads: The actual work by the Stripe Hog is accomplished at the point of contact with our patented blasting heads. For each removal or cleaning application, there is a patented spray bar with a specialized nozzle pattern. Waterblasting Technologies has developed a series of spray bars which we believe are the best in the industry. They come in widths of 6”, 8”, 10”, and 14”. From our experience, we have determined that it is impossible to remove thermoplastic, cold plastic, temporary tape, paint and airport rubber deposits with the same efficiency by using only one spray nozzle configuration. That is why we believe that our spray are the very best in the industry.
Simultaneous Vacuum Recovery: – Before the Stripe Hog, waterblasting without simultaneous vacuum recovery was the standard method of operation. While it was possible, doing so required a secondary vacuum truck or trailer. Since the clean water supply was contained in a trailer as well, this required a second truck for the vacuum system. Two trucks and often 2 trailers for an operation that the Stripe Hog now completes on a single chassis. The remarkable efficiency of vacuum system allows for the application of new markings where the old markings were removed in 20 minutes.
Recovered Water and Debris Disposal: At the end of a job cycle, the disposal of the recovered water and debris was for many years a time consuming, laborious, and very dirty task. The came the Stripe Hog! In our patented, vacuum storage tank, the recovered water and debris are quickly separated. Since water is recovered at a rate that is much quicker then debris recovery, this means that the storage becomes filled with water much more quickly then debris. In most states and countries, because of the patented separation process, the filtered debris water can easily be disposed of in a storm sewer or drainage ditch without require the disposal of the recover debris. This is a very important advantage of the Stripe Hog since the disposal of the recovered debris requires a trip to a waste storage site or facility. The ability to dispose of recovered water without having to simultaneously dispose of your recovered debris means that the unit can typically work on multiple job sites without having to stop and dispose of the recovered debris. And perhaps just as important to the operator, the recovered debris is easily dumped in a nearly dry state. No mess, and no time consuming clean-up! The Stripe Hog was the first in the world to develop this debris separation process and while our competitor are trying to develop similar systems, to date, no one has matched the efficiency and ease of the Stripe Hog disposal process.
